A Clown Alley is traditionally the backstage area of the circus where clowns change costumes and apply makeup. Props, costumes and other items are stored here, too. Over the years, the term has also come to mean any professional grouping of clowns, whether or not they are affiliated with a circus.
Toby’s Clown Alley # 296 makes its home in the American Clown Museum & School. The general membership meeting is held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM, except during the summer months..
Visitors interested in the art of clowning are invited to attend the monthy meeting, stop into the Clown House or call.
The mission of the Alley is to give the clowns a way to use their skills to entertain and bring Smiles, Love and Laughter to all whose hearts they touch.
Toby's Clowns participate in many community events - the Caladium Festival and Country Fair in Lake Placid, Winterfest in Sebring, and Christmas Parades, as well as many others. Clowns also "clown around" during visits to hospitals and nursing homes, at the Clown House, on the street, and at birthday parties.
A monthly newsletter, “The Toby Times” provides articles and event information from these and other events.
If you are interested in the Art of Clowning, please call the Clown House, visit the monthly meeting or consider attending clown school..
The Clown Alley general meeting is held on second Tuesday of each month. The Foundation Board of Directors meets on the first Monday of each month throughout the year, with the Annual Meeting and elections being held in October.
